How to play Forty Thieves

Forty Thieves is a classic two-deck solitaire with forty cards dealt face up: ten columns of four. It rewards patience and planning.

The rules

• Two decks. Ten columns of four cards, all face up. The other 64 cards form the deck.
• Build down in the same suit.
• Move one card at a time.
• Any card can go into an empty column.
• Turn cards from the deck one at a time onto the waste pile. You go through the deck only once.
• Build the eight foundations up by suit from Ace to King (two for each suit) to win.

How to play here

1. Tap a card to move it to the best place.
2. Tap the deck to turn over the next card.
3. Undo as often as you like, and tap Hint for a suggestion.

Tips

• Empty a column as early as you can. It’s the only way to move long runs.
• Before turning a new card, make every useful move in the columns.
